THE Oakland Volleyball Program (formerly Starlings Oakland)
Our volleyball program has been around for over 25 years, and the only change for 2024 is our name. We have the same commitment to providing affordable volleyball programming in Oakland to those who would otherwise not have the opportunity to participate in club volleyball at the Junior Olympic level.
The Oakland Volleyball Program is made up of dedicated professionals and volunteers who are passionate about making a difference in our volleyball community. Our season generally runs from January to June, competing in club volleyball through the Northern California Volleyball Association (NCVA) of USA Volleyball (USAV). Most club volleyball teams that provide similar services for the full six-month club season, have fees that range from $4,000 to $8,000. Our fees are significantly less at approximately $2100. Also, we exclude no girl due to financial hardship.
We have partnered with Oakland Athletic League (OAL) to provide resources, increase participation and grow the sport of volleyball in the Oakland area.
2026 Team Tryouts!
We kickoff our volleyball season with "tryouts" in the late summer/fall, when we offer skills & drills for players to come out and demonstrate their abilities. Players get to show us their commitment to learn about The Oakland Volleyball Program and the opportunity to play club volleyball at the Junior Olympic level.
- 15s-18s COMPLETED - however we do have a couple of positions available for MB/MH/OH/OP. Refer to the FAQ Section below.
- 13s-14s October 11th, 18th 1-3PM
- 12& under October 11th, 18th 9-11AM
Follow these steps:
Step 1 - All participants must have a current tryout/full membership thru Sports Engine by clicking HERE. The NCVA/USAV tryout membership is approximately $20 and full membership is approximately $77. This membership allows participation in sanctioned tryouts, activities, and team competitions.
Step 2 - Then reserve your space at this CLUB TRYOUT LINK.
NOTE: If the participant has a full membership from the 2024-2025 season which expires on August 31, 2025, you do not need to purchase an additional tryout pass to attend tryouts in August. Tryout passes are eligible for upgrades to the full 2025-2026 season memberships. FREE CLINIC - 1st thru 8th grade August 16th
Our FREE Youth Volleyball Clinics to TRY VOLLEYBALL was a big success. We had over 30 boys & girls come out & give it a try. They learned some basics of volleyball in a fun and friendly environment. Some of the feedback we received parents:
